First 6 inch blocks ;-)

I have been going through my list, and checking it twice ;-)  I realised I had been a bad swapper and not posted pics of my first ever 6" block.

Here is the block I sent for my first 6" swap for Cheryl

I hope it has arrived by now ............. it can sometimes take a bit longer to get to WA!

It was quite a different experience making a 6" inch block vs a 12" block.  I have since updated my preferences and am quite excited about the lap quilt I will make from the blocks I will receive in this Swap Group.

I mailed these blocks for Linda G today. I hope they'll arrive by Christmas but they probably won't as we're only a week away now. Where does the time go? Anyhow, I hope these will fit in with your project, Linda. Happy Holidays.

Spools for Sharon

Sharon requested spools in any colour on a white or tone on tone white background.  Being a big fan of blue and white I made her two blue and white spools.  I think they are pretty and hope that Sharon thinks so too.

September blocks have arrived!

My blocks from Bobbie from September arrived yesterday.  Look at how beautiful they are!

I especially like all the movement in the top one.  Bobbie thought it was a bit small so she sent three, but I think I will have to make that one fit cause it's so lovely.  Thanks Bobbie!

Merry 6 inch for December

Hi Ladies

I have just finished sending out the December partners.  Jolanda from Portugal is my double swap queen this month being paired with Janet from Canada and Billy from Victoria.  We also welcome new member Lynda from New Zealand swapping with us for the first time

With 24 members now in this group, we have three sitting the month out and sadly I have had to suspend two partners for failing to meet their swap obligations or communicate with their partner.
I cannot stress this enough.  If you are running late with your swap please let your partner know, If you have mislaid their email address then email me and I will let them know.

On a brighter note:

Have a wonderful and safe Christmas with your loved ones.  Hold them dear to your hearts.  I look forward to catching up with all of your again mid January

From Coralie in Canada

My lovely blocks arrived in the mail today all the way from Canada.  Thanks Coralie, they will fit in with my project perfectly.  I think I need to take another look at this quilt, as I have all the centre blocks and must be getting close to having enough border stars.  Almost time to put my thinking cap on for a new project.

Gemstones for Coralie

This month Canadian Coralie is my block swap partner, and she requested either star of hope or or Free trade.  Both sweet little patterns so I made her one of each.

Coralie requested the blocks in jewel colours with a light background, so I am sending her some sapphires and emeralds in "star of hope" and my favourite, some amethyst in "free trade".  I hope I got these right as I was not 100% sure what jewel colours are (my guess is the colours of gem stones), please correct me if I am wrong.

6 inch blocks in the mail

Here is a sneak peek of the blocks for Bobbie which left on the slow boat to Australia today.

I did send them airmail but I'm convinced that in Canada "airmail" actually means a slow boat.  Hope they arrive quickly for you Bobbie!

Little baskets

Lynette is my partner this month and she is saving red baskets, set on point on a white background.

I loved making these, red and white is one of my favourite colour combos, I trimmed one of the baskets with a bit of lace, hope thats ok.

I think they are cute, I hope Lynette thinks so too.  Will be popped in the post tomorrow.

Australia and Penn. Bound

Lyndell (Australia) asked for blue/yellow or scrap blocks, so I combined them - scrappy blue and yellow blocks on their way.

Jen (Pa. - USA) asked for Batik Log Cabins. I don't have a lot of Batiks, so I hope these do the job.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

September swaps sent + look at my August blocks

Hi Ladies, I have just completed sending out the 6 inch swap partners for September, with 21 ladies participating this month I would like to thank Sharon from NY for being my double swap queen.

I have had two new member enquiries, but as yet not sure if they want to join the 6 or 12 inch group (maybe both), so there could be the opportunity for two more extra swaps.  Thank you to all that have volunteered to do this, I have 9 of you, and will share this around.  So even if we only have one spare swap per month it will be 9 months before you all have had a chance for a double swap.

Here are the lovely blocks I have received from Jolanda from Portugal who was my August swap partner.  They will fit in perfectly with my planned quilt. Jolanda also sent me some lovely tea that was grown on the island where she lives, but I drank it before I took a photos (whoops), it was delicious. :)

Spare swappers put your hands up

In the 12 inch swap group, I have a good number of members willing to take on an extra swap per month if we have an odd number swapping, or if a newby joins up after the partners are allocated.

However in this group, I only have myself and the lovely Coralie with their hands up to take on an extra swap when needed.  So before I prepare the swaps for September (will be sent next weekend), It would be lovely if I can have a few more ladies willing to do an extra swap now and then.  I will share this around so it would not be every month.

Looking forward to hearing from you - email me quiltingblocksaustralia@hotmail.com

Quilted hugs, Sue
